10 gigabit Ethernet solutions bring various technologies together to provide Ethernet frames at a rate of 10 gigabits per second. As the demand for bandwidth increases, various companies are showing interest in developing networks that make use of 10 gigabit Ethernet technologies.

The market is poised for the growth of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) services. In its recently published 1Q13 Server-Class Adapter & LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) Report, Crehan Research forecasts that various factors will fall into place to provide a boost to this market.

Crehan Research quotes factors such as clearing the way for additional sales, price reductions, 10GbE inventory reductions at major server OEMs and an increase in end-user 10GbE demand. The report also states that 10GbE based products are widely being used in the market and this is also one of the factors that will contribute to the growth in this market in the coming years.

10GbE is sold mostly as an option card. So, even after a decade of introducing 10GbE server adapter, the 10GbE card mix is still close to 50 percent in a still-high server-adapter card mix, the report claims.

Recently, The Linely Group had published another report the market for 10GbE server connectivity was dynamic with ever changing technology and vendor market share. Various new technologies are continuously added to Ethernet-controller designs as the 10GbE technology grows.

Reductions in 10GbE server adapter inventories and prices, broader product offerings and the launch of the new Ivy Bridge server platforms should drive increased 10GbE server networking growth," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research. "This could be further accentuated by the backdrop of an expected improvement in the IT spending environment, more of which seems to be shifting toward the data center," Crehan added.

Recently, the company released its fourth quarter Server-class Adapter and LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) report, where it stated that 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) was supply entering the next major stage of volume adoption.
