Media and signaling products manufacturer Dialogic (News - Alert) recently upgraded its Fax over IP
and gateway endpoint solution to offer support for the V.34 T.38 fax protocol. The company claims it is first to market with such a solution.
Together, Dialogic’s Brooktrout (News - Alert) SR140 fax software and DMG3000/DMG4000 media gateway series enable enterprises to deploy fax servers using existing VoIP
installations—thereby leveraging their IP infrastructure more fully.
Wireless News reported that, by adding support for V.34 T.38, Dialogic makes it possible to transmit faxes at 33.6 kbps—faster than other IP fax solutions available that are limited to speeds of 14.4 kbps.
Tom Linhard, president at FaxCore (News - Alert) (a company that offers a Fax over IP solution designed specifically for Brooktrout boards), commented in the Wireless News article about the significance of the speed boost.
“A FoIP endpoint to gateway solution supporting V.34 T.38 will allow FaxCore and Dialogic s mutual customers to send and receive faxes much faster,” Linhard was quotes as saying the report. “This will save them money by lowering both network bandwidth and telecom expenses.”
Jim Machi, senior vice president of marketing at Dialogic, explained in the Wireless News report that the company’s fax technology acts as the engine driving modern fax servers to delivery enhanced benefits of faxing.
“By implementing V.34 T.38 fax on their IP network, enterprise customers will not only benefit from the savings achieved by automating fax document processing and ensuring the integrity of internal control procedures and transactions for regulatory compliance, but can also expect to have lower operating costs than if they were using comparable
FoIP solutions currently on the market,” Machi said.
