With the release of call center software provider Five9’s first cloud computing platform within its Five9 Developer Program, call centers now have the ability to navigate between Five9’s on-demand call center software and other enterprise software applications.

If a customer relationship management, or “CRM,” company – or any other industry SMB or large enterprise – joined the Five9 Developer Program, a company can begin developing advanced applications on top of the Five9 cloud computing platform.

This way, call centers can access various horizontal functions including sales and marketing, customer service and support and others and combine Five9’s call center software with the company’s existing CRM applications.

According to David van Everen, vice president of product management at Five9, the program enables Five9 customers, software vendors and system integrators to develop advanced, integrated, applications on top of the Five9 cloud computing platform for call centers.

“Such applications may provide for increased productivity or competitive advantage for users of Five9's Virtual Call Center Suite and may open the door to new market opportunities for our customers as well as developers in the call center industry,” van Everen said.

Additionally, members of the developer program can access full API documentation including code samples, Five9 officials said, adding that the CTI (News - Alert) Web services API and the configuration Web services API are two functionalities provided by the program.

Five9’s CTI Web services API allows users access to call center functionality and telephony controls that can be utilized to connect Web-based Five9 softphone’s to other applications within a business center. And, the configuration Web services API gives program members access to Five9 user, calling list, contact and campaign management applications.

With these API functionalities within the developer program, users can add new leads to lists, provision new Five9 users and manage campaigns within a third party application, company officials said.

As a member of the program, a user’s “sandbox” will be upgraded to each new release before the general availability of new products to regular Five9 customers, which gives access to test applications and explore new features before others in the industry, van Everen said.

“The developer program opens a world of limitless possibilities for our customers to innovate solutions that improve productivity and provide competitive advantage,” van Everen said. “The program allows our customers to develop unique solutions, specific to their needs while still leveraging the robust, hosted call center platform that Five9 offers.”
