If your company has been considering an online fax service but hasn’t yet made the commitment to at least try one out, here’s an incentive: Packetel (News - Alert) is now offing a Refer-a-Friend program for subscribers to its Internet fax service.
The basic premise of the program is this: subscribers to Packetel’s Internet fax service can earn free credits when they get a friend to also sign up. After the referred friend signs up, both parties get one month’s worth of free fax credit.
There is no limit on how many friends someone can refer, and therefore no limit on how many potential free credits can be earned. It’s all based on the idea that, once someone signs up for the service they will be so impressed they’ll want to let others know about it, and the goodwill will get passed on down the line.
For current subscribers to Packetel’s Internet fax service, here’s how to refer a friend: log in to your account, click the Refer-a-Friend tab, and then enter the names and e-mail addresses of friends you want to refer (up to five at one go). There is also an option on the form to add a personal message letting the friends know why they should sign up. Referred friends will receive a promotion code they must use to get their credit, and also to ensure credit is given to the referrer.
For those not familiar, Packetel’s fax offering is a flat-rate, incoming fax-to-email Internet fax service. Subscribers can get an unlimited number of faxes delivered to their e-mail accounts. There is no per-page charge. Subscriptions start at $3.95 per month, with payment accepted by credit card or PayPayl. Faxes can be received as e-mail attachments in either PDF or TIFF format.
For small businesses in particular, an Internet fax service like Packetel’s can result in significant cost savings. Internet fax is also more convenient and portable than traditional fax. Fax machines not only require an upfront investment, but also ongoing maintenance and supplies (toner, paper). They also tether workers to the office, while an Internet fax service frees them receive faxes anywhere they have access to the Internet.
