VoiceBox Technologies Inc. announced that it will add support for expanded European languages during 2008.
The new languages include Dutch, British English, French, Italian, German and Spanish (DEFIGS) besides the support offered for American English, Canadian French and Mexican Spanish.
Brian Cassidy, managing director of VoiceBox in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) said in a press release, “We are ecstatic to offer VoiceBox’s powerful conversational solutions to European markets with native language support. And we are excited to explore all the potential ways we can apply our world-class phonetic data.”
The details of phonetics have been gathered from native speakers by phonetic transcribers worldwide. This detailed phonetic analysis is necessary for complex tasks that the VoiceBox can achieve such as voice destination entry for navigation, local search and Points Of Interest (POI) besides location-based address requests with city and street name support.
The Conversational Voice Search software developed by VoiceBox allows users the flexibility of searching, navigating and discovering content by using general spoken language. Voice Search processes are used widely in telematics, infotainment, navigation, mobile and VoIP

markets besides in music and entertainment
VoiceBox proposes to introduce DEFIGS capabilities to Personal Navigation Devices (PNDs) this year which would be followed by services to the automotive telematic systems
The conversational platform from VoiceBox Technologies can decipher context and intent from a person’s speech and convert it into a request. It is not necessary to learn preset commands and users can make a request even in noisy places like an automobile.
