D2 Technologies' vPort VoIP Teams with Kirkwood Processors for Residential Gateways

D2 Technologies’ vPort platform has been ported to the Kirkwood family of 88F6xxx Sheeva core system-on-chips, SoCs, from the Marvell Technology Group.
According officials at D2, a provider of embedded IP communications software platforms, optimizing the vPort for the Kirkwood processors from offers OEMs and ODMs a versatile and economical platform for addressing a host of next generation residential, SOHO and SMB networking products including VoIP-enabled gateways, routers and IADs.

“When paired with the Kirkwood family of processors, our VoIP technology enables OEMs and ODMs to more easily roll out industry leading connected home devices with varying voice/data integration needs,” said Doug Makishima (News - Alert), chief operating officer at D2 Technologies.
When combined Marvell’s 88F6000 series with Sheeva CPU technology run from 600 MHz to 1.2 GHz, it enables a wide range of applications as a host or a coprocessor. D2’s embedded vPort software minimizes memory and CPU impact, as well as offers the voice quality, reliability and robustness necessary for high performance VoIP on converged devices - all at an economical price point.
 D2 Technologies (News - Alert) has had great success this past year with its vPort Gateway embedded VoIP platform and now the company has released the next generation of its flagship product line designed to enable OEMs and service providers to deliver to market the advanced mobile and CPE communications products.
As the Mobile Unified Communications (News - Alert) space continues to evolve, the growth of this type of convergence software solutions is playing an increased role in helping address the needs of OEMs.
D2’s vPort software platform provides advanced VoIP telephony capabilities such as protocol signaling, soft DSP voice algorithm processing, and advanced voice quality assurance technology such as jitter buffer and packet loss compensation.
