Network Processor: New ThinkServers by Lenovo Serve Up Powerful Network Performance

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Small-to-medium businesses and corporate branch offices got a performance boost and powerful manageability tools when Lenovo (News - Alert) announced two new and improved additions to the ThinkServer family -- the TS130 and TS430. Featuring the latest Intel (News - Alert) Xeon network processor technology, they are loaded with remote management tools offering an easy setup process, making them a perfect fit for businesses that have very few IT staff.

An entry-level desktop, the ThinkCentre M71e gives corporate offices the technologies they need to productively, reliably and securely conduct everyday business. Rapid boot up, second-generation Intel Core i processors, and security authentication features are incorporated in the desktop.

In a release, the director of Worldwide Marketing in the ThinkServer Business Unit at Lenovo, Tom Ribble, said, “The ThinkServer TS430 changes the game for small business servers. With outstanding storage scalability, premium SAS (News - Alert) RAID and redundant power choices, the ThinkServer TS430 delivers all these features and world-class quality at unmatched prices.”

These quiet servers boast powerful RAID and storage configurations to meet the needs of growing businesses and they are ideal for retail, front-office and back office deployment. Up to 30 percent better performance than previous generation processors is achieved by the single processor TS130 and TS430 using the latest Intel Xeon E3-1200 processors. Owing to the sophistication and remote manageability features that manage customers’ networks effectively, a compelling solution is offered for managed service providers too. Improved productivity and lower costs result due to fewer onsite visits.

Boyd Davis, vice president and general manager of Data Center Group Marketing at Intel,  said, “The Lenovo ThinkServer TS130 delivers capabilities that small business owners need in a server by including features like the latest Intel Active Management Technology- an outstanding remote manageability solution. By combining rich features like AMT (News - Alert), Lenovo makes it easy for small businesses to implement server technology.”

With a broad array of ThinkServer Ready components addressing the specific business requirements, the ThinkServers TS130 and TS430 offer complete server solutions. Data backup options such as LTO and RDX tape storage, battery backup features and UPS for network protection can be chosen by the customers, and these are tested and certified for the ThinkServer from industry leaders Tandberg (News - Alert) Data and TrippLite.
