This is a great year for voice over LTE (News - Alert) (VoLTE), with big carriers worldwide launching the new HD service. To fulfill the vision of mobile broadband over LTE, Mavenir Systems, a provider of software-based networking solutions, announced that Mavenir’s next generation IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert)) core network and Telephony Application Server (TAS) is now commercially launched and carrying live Voice over LTE (VoLTE) traffic.
Mavenir’s client software allows mobile operators to rapidly bring new services to market without any dependency on embedded clients provided by device manufacturers.
VoLTE is the next big innovation in the evolution of 4G LTE networks and brings both voice and data onto the same radio layer. With VoLTE, mobile subscribers can make crystal clear voice calls with faster call setup times while being able to simultaneously enjoy lightning fast 4G LTE data speeds.
VoLTE is on its way to becoming a globally available mass market service and with 14 tier one mobile operators globally using the solution.
Mobile operators have selected Mavenir’s converged IMS voice solution to provide VoLTE, as well as Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) services.
Mavenir’s technology is developed to ensure that VoLTE and VoWi-Fi are compatible with existing network services, such as prepaid and ring-back tones, thus providing a seamless user experience for mobile subscribers whether they are on 3G, 4G LTE or Wi-Fi access networks.
T-Mobile’s (News - Alert) recent VoLTE launch was enabled using Mavenir’s converged IMS voice solution.
Pardeep Kohli, president and chief executive officer of Mavenir Systems (News - Alert), said in a statement, “Mavenir continues to lead in the deployment of Voice over LTE in key markets. We are working with tier one operators globally to transform their networks to 4G LTE and introduce new and innovative services.”
Mavenir’s client software is available today on both Android (News - Alert) and iOS platforms.
