In general, many businesses do not like to deploy solutions from different vendors due to interoperability issues, which prove to be costly in the long run.
In an effort to address this concern among Toshiba (News - Alert) customers, the telecommunication systems division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. has integrated its on-premises SIP Trunking I-VoIP service with its IPedge and Strata CIX business telephone systems to deliver a single-vendor telephony solution.
Toshiba’s I-VoIP service is a SIP trunking service that provides advanced IP features, such as working across locations, using bandwidth more efficiently than ISDN (integrated services for digital network) and helping reduce communication costs.
With the integration of I-VoIP service with on-premises IPedge and Strata CIX business telephone systems, businesses utilizing premises-based system and corresponding services will have a complete business telephone solution from a single vendor. This will eliminate interoperability issues and challenges of using a mix of providers for these services.
Currently, the SIP Trunking I-VoIP service is available in the 48 continental states from authorized Toshiba dealers. Some of its plans include unlimited local and domestic long distance calling.
Features of the IPedge telephony system built into Toshiba's SIP Trunking I-VoIP service include: bursting that enables additional calls per trunk; DID failover forwarding that provides service continuity; and roll-over trunks that allows calls to DIDs to be configured to roll over to a second SIP trunk, enabling calls to be handled by multiple sites.
The features of the Strata CIX telephony system built into Toshiba's SIP Trunking I-VoIP service include DID failover forwarding for service continuity and roll-over trunks that allow calls to DIDs to be configured to roll over to a second SIP trunk. This facilitates calls to be handled by multiple trunks on the same Strata CIX system.
According to Toshiba, trunks are limited to 24 channels for each Strata CIX system. For more than 24 channels, additional trunks will be required.
