Speech technologies provider Loquendo, has announced another successful use of their technologies to add speech to an Air Traffic Control (ATC) solution that will make it easier for instructors to train and trainees to perform tasks in various flying scenarios.
Per this latest announcement, Loquendo (News - Alert) worked with Italian technology provider MythosTech to offer speech technologies for an ATC simulation suite created by Vitrociset, an Italian group in information and electronic technology and integrated logistics.
“With the help of this valuable partner, Vitrociset have integrated Loquendo speech technologies into an advanced and cost-effective solution which is both easy to integrate and assists students in learning their craft more quickly and more effectively,” said Alessandro Martino, Loquendo's Vice President of Sales for Italy.
The new offering, ATRES APP, is based on the Loquendo VoxNauta platform and allows trainees to fly in various scenarios in a simulated environment. During these training sessions, they receive feedback and commands from an automated system powered by Loquendo – freeing up instructors to concentrate on other core duties.
Also, with the use of Loquendo ASR
, it is possible to understand and interpret commands given by trainee air traffic controllers - even those who are non native speakers - and using Loquendo TTS
, respond correctly with all appropriate codes adopted by the (International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
“Having tried various ASR solutions without success,” said Roberto Marzocca, Managing Director of MythosTech. “Loquendo’s speech technologies finally gave us the high levels of accuracy and flexibility we had been looking for. This enabled the development, by Vitrociset, of an innovative application of a quality that would have otherwise been unimaginable.”
Loquendo recently announced that it achieved overall revenue growth of more than 20 percent in 2008. The companies continued profitability year-over- year helps to establish it as a financially sound and reliable solution for its customers and partners.
“2007-8 saw considerable evolution in the speech market,” said Davide Franco (News - Alert), Loquendo CEO.
“The expansion of speech technology in applications for mass market and mobile led to a growth in consumer interest, bringing down prices and driving market consolidation - reducing the number of players in the sector. Against this background, and in the midst of a recession, it is no small achievement that Loquendo has maintained such a healthy turnover.”
