Intervoice Secures Voice SMS Contract with African Wireless Service Provider

By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor

Speech technologies provider, Intervoice (News - Alert) Inc., has been chosen for a third time by a large East African wireless service provider, this time to provide a Voice SMS application.

In partnership with a leading European network equipment provider, the East African wireless service provider will make use of the Voice SMS application to offer their entire customer base easier, more expressive voice messaging capabilities.
Voice SMS extends one-way messaging capabilities to make it possible to send a short voice message to mobile subscribers as an additional option for their communications.
In July of this year, the provider also ordered Voicemail and Abandoned Call Alert applications running on the Media Exchange with HomeZone platform.
With Intervoice Media Exchange, service providers are able to offer customers personalized video, web and WAP access. Easy access to these services helps to attract new subscribers and enhance customer satisfaction.
Intervoice has said they anticipate recognizing most of the revenue of the contract, valued at less than five percent of the Company's quarterly revenue, during the remainder of its fiscal year ending February 29, 2008.

"This order is a testament to the power of the Media Exchange platform. Not only does it allow subscribers to run multiple applications in a single session but it enables personalization," said Jim Milton, Chief Operating Officer, Intervoice.
"For the service provider in today's announcement, adding Voice SMS is adding the element of personalization to the ever-popular capability of text messaging and giving subscribers the ability to use a more natural and personal form of communication, their voices,"  also commented Milton.
