The results are in from Rivermine’s (News - Alert) sixth annual Summit on Telecom Expense Management, held last month, and the company is declaring that the event, co-hosted by IBM (News - Alert), was a roaring success. More than 150 executives flocked to Miami, Florida to hobnob about the latest developments in telecom expense management (TEM) for enterprises and government entities.
At the event, experts shared case studies and best practices demonstrating how software automation and other tools can help organizations save significant money on their communications expenses and operate more efficiently to boot. The Summit focused on both wireless and wireline telecom expenses.
In an opening keynote, Rivermine’s president, Mark Logan (News - Alert), outlined some of the reasons why increasing numbers of organizations are implementing strategic TEM initiatives: “As telecom visibility and accountability are critical to reducing overall spend, companies are looking for solutions that help them manage wireline and wireless expenses in one unified platform. For our customers, this results in millions of dollars in cost savings.”
The featured keynote at this year’s Summit was given by well-known TEM expert Eric Goodness from Gartner (News - Alert). He discussed how organizations can use TEM and outsourcing to gain control over their expenses.
During the Summit, pre-registered attendees took part in a training course that was sold out ahead of time. This program was run by the Association of Telecom Management Professionals (AOTMP). Attendees also enjoyed a variety of presentations and interactive panel discussions presented by IBM, Continental Airlines, Grant Thornton, Sage Software, Bridgestone, Synovus Financial, IKON Office Solutions, Boeing (News - Alert) and Kelly Services.
Miguel Jorge, wireless administrator at Grant Thornton’s enterprise communications group, expressed a common sentiment among Summit presenters and attendees alike when he noted that TEM has been a priority for quite some time at his company.
“It was an honor to showcase our work and success relative to wireless spend reduction at the Summit as well as a good opportunity to share and learn from other leading companies in this area,” Jorge said.
