The IMS
Forum has announced the third IMS Plugfest that delivers interoperability for cost effective (OPEX and CAPEX) "Quadruple Play" revenue generating applications and services.
While Empirix will be a Platinum Sponsor, Intel (News - Alert) and Sonus Networks will be Gold Sponsors of the Plugfest III event scheduled for October 15 through 19, 2007 at the UNH InterOp Lab (IOL) in New Hampshire.
The IMS Forum (News - Alert) has announced the initial Plugfest III participants: Acision, ARGELA Technologies, Coppercom, Data Connection Ltd, Empirix, Ixia, Mavenir Systems, Mu Security, NE Technologies (News - Alert)/MARBEN, RADVISION, Reef Point, Sonus Networks, Starent Networks, and Tekelec. The results of the event will be declared at Fall VON 2007 in Boston.

Kargman explained that Triple Play
and Quadruple play applications are becoming increasingly important to enterprise, consumers and service providers, who are using IMS architectures for service delivery. He believes the IMS Forum's Plugfests are a major initiative in accelerating the deployment of multimedia services over the Internet.
Duane Sword, vice president, Product Management, Empirix expressed the company’s excitement for continuing their support for the IMS Forum's Plugfests and said they have a great deal of respect for the contributions that the IMS Forum is making to the industry.
Empirix’s support of this third consecutive event will include Empirix's feature test, load test, device emulators, analysis and in-service network monitoring solutions for IMS end-to-end assessments.
Plugfest III will include VoIP
, Instant Messaging, and FMC, Video and Multimedia, Services for Businesses and Unified Communications, User and Application Profile Handling, and Security, Reliability and Robustness Testing for IMS Services.
Vikram Saksena, chief technology officer, Sonus Networks (News - Alert) believes that the IMS Forum Plugfest is an important opportunity for industry peers to collaborate and advance the practical application of IMS.
Saksena said that Sonus is excited for the chance to demonstrate the real-world capabilities of its IMS solutions and to work hand-in-hand with other pioneers in the industry to promote standards-based interoperability that will translate into real value for our customers.
“IMS Plugfests are gaining momentum, proving that IMS is ready for the multi-vendor deployments for both legacy and green field networks,” said Michael Khalilian, chairman and president of the IMS Forum in a statement.
“The first two plugfests were a success, and we are looking forward to the third event for this year. We also developed an IMS Certification process as part of our Plugfest program,” he added.
