Cloud-based communication service providers operate in a highly competitive market. The competition comes from traditional carriers, new wireless service providers and over-the-top (OTT) communications options that are readily available at very low costs or even for free. Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) recognized Flowroute's presence in the communications platforms-as-a-service (CPaaS) market and gave the company the 2016 North American Award for Enabling Technology Leadership because of the innovative cloud communications solutions it offers.

Flowroute provides cloud-based communications technology designed to empower developers and enterprises with carrier grade services so they can add voice and messaging capabilities into their apps and services with solutions specifically designed for their customers to deliver unique experiences.

Service providers in the CPaaS want to offer their customers new generation services such as virtual office in which users will be able to access all the communication options of an on premises system no matter where they are. Flowroute has API and Web-based management portals that gives developers and organizations these capabilities on their internal platforms with a level of control over their telephony resources without making large investments in network services.

In addition to providing virtual office and cloud communications solutions for the CPaaS market, the company also leverages its platform to serve the software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) communications markets.

"Flowroute makes the most of its technology assets, a national network, and a cloud-based platform to function as an all-IP communications service provider in North America. It has built its network using modern federation techniques that allows them to offer resiliency, agility and scale that most SIP trunking providers struggle to deliver," said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Michael Brandenburg.

Flowroute uses patented technology and processes to give telecom networks around the world the ability to use their resources more effectively and bring it into one transparent high-performance network which it calls the Flowroute HyperNetwork. According to the company, this is a new type of carrier network that is the linchpin for nearly every product Flowroute offers.

With this type of reliability, cloud communications providers can offer virtual office solutions knowing the customers will always have access to the services and resources they need. The technology Flowroute provides gives service providers performance, transparency, and control over the voice and messaging solutions they offer.

The communications control is delivered through expanded SIP signaling, allowing CSPs to command their phone service and route calls efficiently and intelligently. This includes comprehensive Call Detail Records with to-the-second usage data for planning and reporting.
