Buy vs. build – it’s a longstanding question that technology vendors have grappled with when trying to expand their businesses. But, the digital, connected, software-driven world we are now in has created a third option, which is even more enticing – partnering.
In order to deliver more complete solution, including ancillary or tangential technologies that customers inevitably are going to demand, vendors have the opportunity to partner with other technology providers to create solution ecosystems. The benefit is not only an ability to extend new products or services to customers, but also access to a new customer base through partnerships.
In addition, partnerships can often be initiated much more rapidly and cost-effectively than building or buying additional technology, and don’t require as much – if any – additional staffing or other resources, beyond interoperability certification.
That certification process is what VoIP solutions provider Grandstream has undertaken with B/OSS and UCaaS platform provider PortaOne (News - Alert) as part of an extension of their partnership. Through their collaboration, Grandstream’s entire portfolio of IP phones, ATA, gateways, and SIP speakers will be fully certified for use with PortaOne’s MR81 version of its flagship UCaaS platform, PortaSwitch.
What it will mean is that any service provider using the PortaOne platform will be able to immediately offer Grandstream endpoints to their customers, including seamless auto-provisioning. That includes:
- Grandstream’s upcoming GRP series of carrier-grade IP Phones
- WP820 Cordless WiFi (News - Alert) IP phone
- DP752/DP730/DP722 DECT Cordless IP Phones and Base Stations
- HT800 series of ATAs
- GXW4200 series of VoIP gateways
- GSC series of SIP Speakers
- All previously certified Grandstream devices (GXP1600 series, GXP1700 series, GXP2100 series, GXV series IP video phones for Android, and all other DP series DECT IP Phone (News - Alert) models).
Grandstream sponsored PortaOne’s customer conference this week, and both companies will be sponsors of ITEXPO 2020 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, January 12-14, 2020.
