Whaleback Systems Taps Sonus Networks, Targets SMB Market

By Michelle Pasquerello, TMCnet Associate Editor

In an effort to support the Whaleback CrystalBlue Voice Service, Whaleback Systems tapped Sonus Networks’ (News - Alert) IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) (IMS)-ready architecture, further expanding upon the managed services provider’s voice over broadband offerings.
Whaleback Systems will deploy Sonus’ GSX9000 Open Services Switch, PSX Call Routing Server, SGX Signaling Gateway (News - Alert) and the Sonus Insight Management System, which, according to officials at Sonus, will help Whaleback Systems target the SMB market by offering a carrier-quality network with a variety of features.
"Whaleback Systems' targeted approach to the market, focusing specifically on SMB users, means that they place an even higher premium on cost efficiency coupled with superior service," said Steve Edwards, chief marketing officer, Sonus Networks in a press release.
"Our managed PBX approach takes away the complexity while leveraging the cost efficiencies of Voice over Broadband. By building our service on a Sonus-based infrastructure, our customers never have to sacrifice quality or reliability,” commented Mark Galvin, president and CEO of Whaleback Systems.
Sonus made headlines this week when it announced its certification and interoperability program designed to assist Sonus in certifying a wider variety of products and services, thereby helping Sonus customers to forge ahead in the industry. The Open Service Partner Alliance (OSPA) will help customers integrate products from multiple vendors into their Sonus-based IP Multimedia Subsystem  (IMS)-ready network.
