Mu Dynamics Testing IPTV and IMS-Based Service Reliability at GMI 2008 Event

Mu Dynamics is gearing up to for a more than a week of testing its services at the IPTV (News - Alert) Plugfest - GMI 2008.

 
The Sunnyvalle-based Mu Dynamics is a pioneer in helping vendors eliminate NGN service downtime through proactive service assurance, according to the company.
 
The event, from October 21 to October 3, is an industry-wide interoperability event focused on the reliability and security of next-generations IPTV and IMS services by leading operators globally.
 
As the IPTV and VoIP services space continues to grow, the importance of assessing the gaps of underlying service level traffic variations services such as Diameter and SIP are critical to the reliable delivery of revenue-critical next generation services, according to Adam Stein, vice president marketing at Mu Dynamics.
 
"Mu's test case authoring and hands-on participation as GMI helps ensure our numerous network operators in delivering a high quality of service and helping the industry as a whole identify product weaknesses that cause downtime," said Stein.
 
And as consumer demand for NGN services climbs, GMI 2008 link major carrier, government, and academic labs on three continents to provide a global worldwide, multi-vendor interoperability test environment for end-to-end practical network deployment.
 
“The automated services testing performed by the Mu-4000 is far more comprehensive than any manual process or point product solution we evaluated to date,” said Stein. “It will be critical to BT (News - Alert) as we implement our next generation of real-time network infrastructure and services.”
 
The 11 day test — at test sites of typical Mu users such as Verizon (News - Alert), NCS, UNH-IOL, BT/Vodafone and China Mobile — will detail Mu’s IMS support for IPTV in a multi-vendor NGN environment. 

Mu users include BT is among a growing number of Mu operator customers including Cox (News - Alert) and Sprint. Network product vendors including Starent, F5, Juniper, Fortinet and Starent are among others using the Mu-4000 Service Analyzer to support the continuous evaluation, testing and reliable deployment of IPTV and IMS-based services.
 
In fact, according to Mu Dynamics, in order to bulletproof both fixed and mobile multimedia applications throughout their production, GMI-participant Starent Networks (News - Alert) runs a best practices Software Development Lifecyscle including Mu.
 
“There is significant demand to have Internet on the go, and mobile operator networks are central in delivering this capability,” said Chuck Bodeman, director of test engineering for Starent Networks. “As a result, the network needs to be reliable, available and secure. Starent Networks works with solutions, such as those offered by Mu Dynamics, to ensure we are delivering robust products with the key features mobile operators require.”
