Wireless Management Delivered as a Service

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

There is a new acronym making its way throughout the telecommunications stratosphere: WEMaaS. Haven’t heard of it yet? If you work in the enterprise space and you have wireless services internally, you will likely see this term pop up before you know it. Why? It has been proven to make lives much easier.

OneCall Manage shares insight on this new way of approaching wireless management in a recent post. WEMaaS, if you haven’t already guessed, stands for Wireless Expense Management as a Service. When placed as a corporate resource, WEMaaS helps to extract the intended value out of TEM in a wireless environment. TEM and wireless have not always gotten along and WEMaaS completely changes the rules of the game.

As a tool for wireless management, WEMaaS is proven to be fast. It does not bog you down with months of manual call data analysis and instead uses proven BI mechanisms to quickly pinpoint opportunities for savings that pay attention to the actual user. As a result, the benefits of the platform are expected to be measurable in just weeks.

WEMaaS is also designed to be an easy approach to wireless management. All of your usage data will reside in the cloud where it is complemented by an on-demand BI/reporting engine. As a result, you can quickly and easily “slice and dice” that data as you see fit for your environment. Reports are also pre-formatted so that it is especially easy to zero in on those top talkers, usage by LOB and other metrics.

WEMaaS is also positioned as delivering a high ROI. This statement is based on the conventional wireless management processes that require significant time and effort chasing after returns that may not materialize. WEMaaS, by comparison, allows you to achieve substantial savings with a relatively modest initial investment. If you qualify, the WEMaaS vendor could even offer a zero-risk trial.

With so much to offer in WEMaaS, it’s hard to believe there could be anything less than stellar performance involved. But, like all technology, there is a downside to this type of wireless management. Once you identify just how much you have been overpaying on your wireless bill, you are likely to become physically ill. And, it isn’t unusual for companies to experience tough internal political battles when debating how the money saved should be used.

The good thing is that WEMaaS and other wireless management platforms are designed to help you control your wireless costs while you extend further mobile capabilities to your workforce. If this is a priority for you and your organization, you might want to take a close look at WEMaaS.
