IBM Introduces IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack

IBM (News - Alert) has introduced IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack at the OpenStack 2014 Summit in Atlanta. The company expanded its support of open technologies by providing advanced OpenStack integration, cloud virtualization and management capabilities across IBM's entire server portfolio with IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack.

OpenStack is an open and scalable operating system for building public and private clouds.

IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack offers support for the latest operating system release, Icehouse, and full access to the complete core OpenStack API set to help clients ensure application portability and avoid vendor lock-in.  As companies increasingly migrate to software defined environments, automating hybrid cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms through open technologies to create essential business value.

The new solution also offers support for IBM z/VM on System z, and PowerVC for PowerVM on Power Systems designed to add more scalability and security to Linux environments.

IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack offers a modular, flexible design that enables rapid innovation, vendor interoperability, and faster time-to-value. It is built on the foundation of IBM SmartCloud Entry and is an easy-to-deploy, simple-to-use cloud management offering that can deliver improved private cloud and Service Provider solutions with features like security, automation, usage tracking metering, and multi-architecture management. It has been designed to help ensure that mission critical applications running in the cloud are managed effectively.
