Updated Aerohive Cloud Management Platform Supports Mobility on Campus and in the Enterprise

Mobility and the cloud are becoming increasingly intertwined and cloud solutions must be able to handle the demand for mobile support. Aerohive (News - Alert) Networks caters to mobile-first organizations, and the company has released an update to its HiveManager Next Generation (NG) cloud management platform.

The ramped up solution is a good fit for the education market, but may be used throughout any type of enterprise. If features integration with the company’s new AP130 802.11ac access point in support of full mobility as well as a streamlined user experience. The HiveManager NG offering centralizes all management, provisioning and monitoring of wireless networks while supporting distributed intelligence at the network edge through key access devices.

It works well for the education sector by promoting collaboration and support for a sprawling campus infrastructure comprised of tablets, laptops, smart boards and online curriculum. The mobile-enabled HiveManager NG may also be easily scaled to support expanding networks, and includes seamless maintenance and upgrades.

Fresno Pacific University is using HiveManager NG to support a growing number of mobile users and devices. According to Webster Alfonso, manager of network services, BYOD and online testing initiatives have necessitated a bigger and faster wireless network at the university. Aerohive’s offering has enabled the school to step up its management and troubleshooting capabilities to offer better service to students and faculty.

Additional features of the updated solution include real-time client and event monitoring, usage dashboards and a number of API integrations. It also features a helpdesk-optimized troubleshooting console for automatic discovery and timely diagnosis of issues.

The new AP130 access point is designed to help customers seamlessly upgrade their networks to 802.11ac without overhauling their entire infrastructure. The new devices offer a firewall, reporting features and QoS to support growing wireless networks.
