Fairport, New York-based PAETEC Holding Corp., which provides data, voice, and Internet solutions to business-class customers nationwide, today said that it was chosen by a New York State government agency to deliver its core voice services.
The company will specifically offer the New York State Office of the Chief Information Officer/Office for Technology (CIO/OFT) over six million minutes per month of both local and long distance voice services for agencies on their network.
CIO/OFT, which offers support for over 90,000 users and 10,000 teleconferences per year, is expected realize 20 percent cost savings for the state - with approximately $370,000 saved annually over the next five years.
Officials with PAETEC (News - Alert) say New York State is the largest of the 42 states they serve and is home to 1,000 employees as well as the company’s corporate headquarters, which is located in the Rochester area. PAETEC also has offices in Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, Westchester, Hudson Valley, Manhattan and Long Island
According to Dr. Melodie Mayberry-Stewart, New York State Chief Information Officer and Director of the Office for Technology, the current fiscal crisis has made it increasingly important for government agencies to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
