MightyMeeting for iOS Gets Major Update, Includes Nearcast Support

New York-based technology start-up MightyMeeting (News - Alert) announced today it has released a major update for its successful iOS application. Used by executives, entrepreneurs, sales people and marketing professionals at thousands of companies across the globe, the MightyMeeting iOS app provides the ability to deliver multimedia presentations by way of any iPhone (News - Alert) or iPad.

The new update adds a handful of significant improvements to the app: it now supports images, documents and spreadsheets, in addition to the already-supported presentations and demo videos, allowing users to manage, share and present a complete set of materials with the app.

The update also brings support for nearcast meetings, allowing up to 16 iPhones and/or iPads to connect in a peer-to-peer network simultaneously for sharing presentations, demo videos and other supported materials.

Nearcast meetings can be established over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and can create direct connections without an external Internet connection.

MightyMeeting now also supports video conferencing in broadcast meetings, allowing attendees to join in remotely from nearly anywhere in the world, and since video conferencing is performed over a Wi-Fi connection, no additional long distance charges or data usage fees will apply.

A new feature has been added that allows attendees to take turns presenting content from their iPhone or iPad. Design for team meetings, this feature is meant to make it easier to share news and updates in regular status meetings with a mix of local and remote attendees.

Lastly, the list of “Favorite” files on an iPhone or iPad is now saved locally to allow quick access to frequently used content while not connected to the Internet.

“We’ve been working closely with our customers in telco, pharma, financial services and education to create a unique solution that turns each and every iPad into a powerful business tool that can be used to create new business opportunities and generate revenue,” said Dmitri Tcherevik, founder and CEO of MightyMeeting, Inc.

MightyMeeting was the first to release a Web conferencing application for the now-defunct HP TouchPad. In February of this year, the company released an all-in-one collaboration and communication app for Android (News - Alert) and iOS that also works in any modern desktop browser called MightyTeams.
