A recent survey from LifeSize (News - Alert) underscored the incredible positive impact that video conferencing can have on businesses, particularly those whose employees are spread out across large areas. Survey respondents reported that their conversations are much more fruitful when carried out over video chat than text-based messaging or even voice calling.

An astounding 99.2 percent of those in the survey reported that the use of video chatting helped them build stronger relationships, both with fellow employees within their company and with individuals outside of their organization. An almost equally large percentage (91.7 percent), found that they were better able to articulate their message when they were able to communicate face to face via video chat than any other method of communication. The result? Over three quarters of the survey’s respondents found that the use of video conferencing services “increased their productivity and enhanced their work-life balance.”

This survey, and others like it, highlight the fact that humans still crave face to face interaction over all else. This fact, combined with the increased globalization of business, means that the market for speedy and reliable video conferencing services will only continue to grow.

"The latest Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) research finds that the cloud-based video conferencing services market is expecting a compound annual growth rate of 20.7 percent. Companies now understand that it helps employees be more productive and focused in the business environment," said Craig Malloy, Lifesize CEO. "A majority of survey respondents report that video conferencing reduces the time needed to complete a project and that it decreases the likelihood of multitasking. Lifesize's cloud-based video conferencing and all-in-one collaboration tool helps its more than 3,000 customers to thrive and be successful -- both in and out of the meeting room."

Video conferencing brings with it the value of nonverbal communication, where facial expressions and gestures can give people conversing greater insights into the information being conveyed. The video conferencing market will continue to grow as more and more businesses look to integrate such services.
