Revolabs Explores Wireless Readiness

The concept of going wireless is appealing as we want access to flexible solutions that don’t tie us down to any particular location or device. This is especially true when leveraging conferencing solutions. The benefit of conferencing is to allow for collaboration. But, do we lose any capability or security by going wireless?

According to conferencing solutions provider, Revolabs (News - Alert), users will go wireless for a variety of reasons. The two main drivers in the decision tends to be a preference for a clean meeting space or the necessity to be mobile, accommodate the challenges of the meeting space or to get around the barriers created by the technology in place.

For instance, Geoff Hellyer, Senior Systems Engineer for Revolabs suggests that users tend to lean toward wireless microphones for conferencing when they want mobility and the freedom to move around a space. They tend to enjoy a consistent level of audio and avoid distractions from room noise or other issues. Plus, if the office environment includes concrete or wood floors, broadloom carpets or other materials that make it difficult to install cables, wireless is a much easier way to go.

Heritage sites that tend to require special permission to gain access to hardware make wireless options much more attractive. Such environments cannot be altered because of regulations, but wireless enables the use of conferencing in any room. Likewise, when multi-functional spaces are involved, rooms may be configured around events that do or do not match the requirements of the conferencing session. If the room needs to be reconfigured at any point, wireless connectivity makes the process that much easier.

The reality is wireless is convenient, clean and offers the flexibility we want when collaborating with other individuals. It also leaves the hands free to use for other interactions during the conversation. But there’s a difference between going wireless and selecting the best solution to meet your wireless needs. You have to ensure the quality of the interaction when you’re on a wireless microphone and you want to be sure the connection is secure, regardless of the conversation.
