Although video conferencing has evolved to a point where it can be accessed almost anywhere, the quality of the audio plays an important role in making the technology work properly. With more organizations deploying conferencing solutions to communicate internally and externally, the quality of audio technology is being scrutinized more than ever. The new HDL300 audio conferencing system by Nureva uses 8,192 virtual microphones as part of the company's Microphone Mist technology to pick up sounds from any location in a meeting room.

Nureva said it has developed a breakthrough technology that uses a system of sophisticated algorithms that is capable of processing sound from all of the 8,192 virtual microphones at the same time so remote participants will have a high quality listening experience. The HDL300 lets everyone in a room be heard no matter where they are located or the direction they are facing.

Audio quality can be compromised even in optimal conditions if the microphones that are in place can't pick up sounds. This has always been an issue with conferencing solutions, especially in dynamic rooms where participants are moving about and interacting with the audience.

Using a custom audio processing unit capable of handling 15,000 MIPS, it creates a higher quality of listening experience through the virtual microphones. This is achieved with continuous self-calibration, simultaneous echo cancellation, position-based automatic gain control and sound masking.

“Early feedback on the HDL300 system has been tremendous, with resellers and their customers expressing excitement at the arrival of a simple, cost-effective solution to the nagging issues with audio conferencing. We are excited to be in full production of the system at a time when customers are searching for new approaches to solving old and persistent problems,” said Nancy Knowlton, Nureva’s CEO.

Optimized for small to mid-sized meeting and collaboration spaces, the HDL300 system can be integrated with some of the leading conferencing applications and systems, including: Skype for Business, Zoom, Blue Jeans, Cisco (News - Alert) Spark, Cisco WebEx, GoToMeeting, Pexip Infinity Connect and other common UC&C applications.

The Nureva HDL300 audio conferencing system includes an integrated microphone and speaker bar with 12 omnidirectional microphones and two speakers.  It is designed to work out of the box by simply connecting the unit through a USB port. It doesn't need additional drivers to be installed because it is recognized as a standard USB audio device.

The HDL300 system was first announced in 2016 and has been undergoing testing and trials by beta users, resellers and industry analysts. The system is now available through a global network of authorized Nureva dealers and distributors in North America, Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
