Oklahoma City's Steno Services Adds Video Conferencing

Disrupting digital technologies have changed the way businesses operate in virtually every industry. Legal services haven't escaped the progress, but one segment, stenography, is still around and thriving. Courtrooms still have stenographers, and their services are also required outside of the courtroom for depositions and other legal services. Oklahoma City’s Steno Services is adding a video conferencing suite to provide comprehensive services for attorneys with remote depositions and more.

According to the company, the conferencing system is an in-office suite with the latest communications features. The platform brings together VoIP, Call-in, Call-me and other options with HD quality. Participants can join a conference on their mobile devices, tablets, laptops and desktops from anywhere. And because it is a deposition, there will be exhibits and documents, which can be shared using the screen sharing feature so everyone can be on the same page.

The technology allows up to 500 seats, making it possible for large multi-party litigation cases to come together. Participants in these large conferences can annotate, and witnesses can markup documents in real-time using the management software features of the platform.

Ginger Baze, owner of Steno Services LLC, explained why video conferencing technology is so valuable for attorneys. She says, “One of the biggest challenges for attorneys today is being able to manage a busy caseload and ensure that all depositions are handled effectively and with great attention to detail. By taking the travel time out of the equation, attorneys can accomplish more directly from their office or anywhere they can tap into the system. People in numerous locations can all work together during a deposition without sacrificing the quality of the audio, video, or the skill of the reporting which is being done.”

The solution Baze has in place is HIPAA compliant with end-to-end encryption to address regulatory compliances in healthcare and the protection of the privacy of the participants. The system is compatible with any Cisco (News - Alert) conference room categorized as H.323/SIP.

Steno Services supplements the stenography services with digital recordings of the conference to capture, as Baze stated, “When the nonverbal expressions you see and the inflected tones you hear are important as well.”
