The Conferencing Zone Week In Review: VideoCentric, Google, and More

The Conferencing Zone saw a lot of excitement and announcements during the week. From VideoCentric unveiling its DaaS program to what exactly is inside Google’s (News - Alert) new hardware kit, the news did not stop. VideoCentric has announced its latest venture, a Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) program, which provides organizations with all the zest of a phenomenal videoconferencing deployment at a reasonable monthly cost. “Our DaaS programme ensures that we provide the highest quality experience at every level, so that customers achieve optimal value and meet their own business outcomes,” commented Emily Shimell, Communications Manager at VideoCentric.

Following the DaaS announcement, SPIRIT DSP (News - Alert) announced India-based Syncline Films launched VConference, a videoconferencing service founded on the VideoMost software plan. VConference offers a variety of communications tools. The VConference feature set includes one click PC multipoint videoconference, compatible with most servers or in-browser user apps, as well as Android (News - Alert) and iOS mobile devices.

Google has unveiled new gear to enhance Hangouts Meet experiences for its G Suite subscribers. “The new controller provides a modern, intuitive touch-screen interface that allows people to easily join scheduled events from Calendar or view meeting details with a single tap,” writes Katie Roberts-Hoffman (News - Alert), Product Manager for G Suite, in a recent blog. 

Finally, Cisco launched a new AI-powered digital voice assistant for managing boardroom hardware. Cisco Spark Assistant will fuse with existing conferencing equipment, and enable joining meetings, sound adjustment, and audio commands. Cisco (News - Alert) Spark Assistant will be distributed in phases, starting in early 2018. Phase one will offer starting a meeting using just a voice, typing and dialing eliminated.
