Qumu Brings Software-Based iPTV to Enterprise

In terms of media, video has seen explosive growth in recent years. From finding a job to enhancing remote education and renting a car to the enterprise, video is front and center in today’s mobile-first, always on, always plugged in world. This week, Qumu announced the arrival of Qumu iPTV, its new software-based iPTV solution. The new release enables companies to offer an exceptional user experience on the device of one’s choosing.

“For the last decade, traditional hardware-based iPTV systems have been struggling to meet the need for streaming television anytime and anywhere within the enterprise,” said Vern Hanzlik, President, and CEO of Qumu. “Qumu iPTV is a software-only solution that can now stream iPTV to any device regardless of configuration or location, with no additional hardware required.”

Leveraging real-time technology, Qumu iPTVis able to deliver a rich experience without the use of set top boxes computer, mobile device, connected web client, large format display, television, VDI client or commodity compute stick from Lenovo and Intel (News - Alert). A deployment puts commodity hardware to work, which simply demands a browser on an endpoint.

With the use of legacy hardware saving on spend, Qumu iPTV also promises administrators improved control by eliminating the need for proprietary remote controls, and adding more comprehensive control over content. And on the backend, the platform provides real-time reporting and analytics on all video consumption. 

“Our new solution enables global organizations to push iPTV to places that historically could not access feeds,” noted Chance Mason, Qumu’s Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales. “Now any Qumu customer can simply extend their current enterprise video platform, leverage their existing infrastructure, and potentially save millions of dollars per year.”
