This week, The Conferencing Zone spanned the map, literally. It included blockchain, video conferencing in India’s court system, and making Web Conferencing a Platform. In case you missed any of the exciting announcements and breaking news, it is the perfect time for The Conferencing Zone Week in Review.

It all started with Qumu announcing Qumu iPTV has arrived. The new software-based iPTV solution allows businesses to provide phenomenal user experiences on any device they are comfortable with. “For the last decade, traditional hardware-based iPTV systems have been struggling to meet the need for streaming television anytime and anywhere within the enterprise,” said Vern Hanzlik, President, and CEO of Qumu. “Qumu iPTV is a software-only solution that can now stream iPTV to any device regardless of configuration or location, with no additional hardware required.”

Blockchain is extremely important; so important that it will be addressed at The Blockchain Event from May 16-17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. “In the dotcom era, the internet middlemen took over from brick-and-mortar middlemen,” says Robin Bloor, senior vice president of strategy for Algebraix Data. “Now they will be displaced by the blockchain itself.” Are you aware of blockchain and its potential in the communications market?

Over in India, the courts of Jammu and Kashmir divide to spend half of the year in Jammu and the other on Kashmir. To allow for all cases to be heard in a timely fashion without mass amounts of travel, video conferencing has been implemented to allow for this. Chief Justice BD Ahmed is a huge fan of computer technology and developed several tools used in the court system.

Finally, Web Conferencing as a Platform could soon become a reality with the high market and dependency businesses have on it. From webinars to remote learning, it is becoming an essential as the global webinar market is anticipated to gross $800 million by 2023. Only time will tell if WCaaP catches on!

And there you have it; The Conferencing Zone wrapped in a neat little package. But, don’t forget to come back early and often for all the news and announcements you won’t want to miss.
