Dolby Voice Room Joins the Huddle
March 12, 2018
Dolby Laboratories (News - Alert) Inc. has come out with a new solution for huddle rooms and small conference rooms. The company says its Dolby Voice Room is simple to install, manage, and use. And it delivers crisp audio, clear video, eliminates the problem of distracting background noise, and nicely frames meeting participants.
Dolby Voice Room includes the Dolby Conference Phone (News - Alert). But, it’s more than a phone, the company explains. It serves as the control center for videoconferencing. The Dolby Voice Room solution also includes the Dolby Voice Camera and Dolby Voice Hub. All of the above can be installed in 15 minutes or less.
In addition to the features mentioned above, Dolby Voice Room does dynamic leveling, which assesses room sound in real time to separate the speakers’ voices from background noise like heating and air conditioning systems and projector hum, which it cancels out. It employs high dynamic range video mapping to adjust to various lighting situations. And it ghosts out people who are in front of the whiteboard so everybody can see what’s being presented.
Only 2 percent of the world’s millions of huddle rooms enable video communications. But lately, there’s been a lot of discussion, and some work, on equipping these spaces with team collaboration technologies like videoconferencing solutions.
Huddle rooms are small spaces set aside to allow for more casual and sometimes ad hoc meetings. They’re part of a larger trend through which companies are designing open workspaces in an effort to better enable collaboration.
Another business group communications trend that’s recently taken off is the use of team collaboration tools. Slack really brought this trend to the forefront and now companies from Atlassian to RingCentral (News - Alert) has a team collaboration offering and story to tell.
