Hurricane Electric to Expand Data Center

Hurricane Electric (News - Alert) of California will be expanding its bounds by updating and re-outfitting some of its buildings.

The company, based in Silicon Valley, CA, has been long overdue for an investment of time and energy into renovations. Hurricane Electric provides colocation services to its customers, and is also the operator of some very important digital equipment.

Hurricane operates a global internet backbone, the offshoots of which effect many Californians.

The president of the company has been very vocally enthusiastic about the changes coming down the line at Hurricane Electric. The company has just secured 13 million dollars from Bank of the West in order to outfit its data center with the newest technologies available, which will be crucial as Hurricane moves forward and grows it reach.

The data center will need to be expanded in order to accommodate more colocation services for its customers.

The decision to expand was the direct result of a heightened customer demand for Hurricane Electric’s colocation services, which have lately skyrocketed. This is not the first time that Hurricane Electric has answered the call of its clients by expanding; a very similar situation occurred not long ago and enabled the company to take on much more business as a result.

The expansion of the company’s Fremont, California data center will make it easier for the company to offer even better wholesale colocation to new customers who are looking for the best quality of product and customer service along the way.

So far, in terms of colocation, the company has kept its business squarely in the Silicon Valley area. With two data centers built already, Hurricane Electric is a pretty local business for its size, although it is the largest in the world of its type.

Many within the company are pushing for expansion beyond the current locale, and amid all these new changes, they may just win.
