Business Ethernet and networking solutions provider tw telecom Inc. has announced a network expansion across Orange (News - Alert) County, California.


This announcement signifies tw telecom’s efforts to enhance the county’s backbone capacity and extend the network for new and existing customers spanning nine cities in the county through deployment of a new fiber.

The nine cities of the County to benefit include Brea, Buena Park, Cypress, East Anaheim, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Westminster.

Apart from gaining the capability to provide a portfolio of data, Internet, and voice services to more enterprises in new areas of the county, the announcement will also boost the company’s economic development and jobs by adding key sales and technical positions to its local workforce.

Speaking on the announcement, Will Frederickson, vice president and general manager of tw telecom (News - Alert) Orange County, said in a statement, "This expansion is the result of strong growth and demand from our existing base of Orange County customers as well as opportunities with prospective customers across our market."

Frederickson added, "Our continued growth and investment in Orange County has enabled us to continue to competitively serve the business community as well as add key technical and sales positions to support those efforts."

tw telecom would be deploying some of its key portfolio elements, including Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network capabilities, in the county. 

The Business Ethernet portfolio includes e-line managed Business Ethernet metro and nationwide WAN services; Extended Native LAN (ENLAN) that expands metro Business Ethernet connectivity; Ethernet Access (E-Access) featuring external network-to-network interface (ENNI); and eLynk portfolio of next generation, private data services.

tw telecom’s Intelligent Network provides an anytime, anywhere clear view of network elements, segment by segment. It facilitates for true bandwidth on-demand to meet the changing needs of business.

The company said that the expansion of reach into Orange County is part of a national multi-market effort by it to expand its metro fiber footprint approximately by 17 percent across the country.

As part of this national multi-market effort, tw telecom plans to enter into five new high-demand markets, namely Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond and Salt Lake City.

Apart from increasing the density of its metro-fiber footprint in 28 existing markets, tw telecom will also invest in integrating and connecting the entire 32-market expansion effort into its national network and operational infrastructure. 

tw telecom also has plans to expand its sales force, including sales and support employees as well as additional operations personnel to support its national multi-market effort.
