tw telecom Augments Its Fiber Optic Network in Nashville, Tennessee

Business Ethernet and networking solutions provider tw telecom (News - Alert) Inc. has expanded its existing fiber optic network in Nashville, Tennessee, to facilitate additional economic and business development opportunities for customers residing in the city.


tw telecom employs a flexible fiber network infrastructure, various product portfolio and its own Intelligent Network capabilities to provide enterprises with scalable, private connections for transport data networking, Internet access, voice, virtual private network (VPN), voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) and security.

Currently, tw telecom serves many customers in various verticals, such as healthcare, financial, legal, higher education, government, technology, and hospitality industries in Nashville.

tw telecom’s new Nashville expansion project, which involves addition of a new fiber optic network, is part of the company’s national multi-market effort to expand its metro fiber footprint across the country.

The fiber optic network expansion is from the city's central business district to the west side of the Nashville International Airport, said the company.

Through this Nashville expansion, tw telecom plans to enter into five new high-demand markets including Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Richmond and Salt Lake City.

Apart from gaining the capability to provide a portfolio of data, Internet, and voice services, including Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network capabilities, to more enterprises in new areas of Nashville, the latest announcement will also boost the company’s economic development and jobs by adding key sales and technical positions to its local workforce.

The Business Ethernet portfolio includes e-line managed Business Ethernet metro and nationwide WAN services; Extended Native LAN (ENLAN) that expands metro Business Ethernet connectivity; Ethernet Access (E-Access) featuring external network-to-network interface (ENNI); and eLynk portfolio of next generation, private data services.

The company’s Intelligent Network provides an anytime, anywhere clear view of network elements, segment by segment. It facilitates for true bandwidth on-demand to meet the changing needs of business.

Officials with tw telecom said in a statement that more enterprises gaining access to the company’s services through this expansion will in turn help these enterprises to connect their remote offices, data centers and customer locations easily and quickly, while driving the company’s business.

"We are excited for this investment in Middle Tennessee and what it can do to help us to reach more customers with our industry leading customer service and Intelligent Network products," said Steve Yazell, vice president and general manager, tw telecom Nashville, in a statement. “tw telecom is committed to the success of Middle Tennessee and looks forward to growing along with it."

Recently, tw telecom Inc. had expanded its network across Orange (News - Alert) County, California, as well, as part of its national multi-market effort.
