Networking and telecommunications solutions provider, EnGenius Technologies (News - Alert), Inc., has rolled-out two new 4-dual-speed small form-factor pluggable (SFP) high-performance Gigabit (Gb) power over Ethernet (PoE)+ switches, namely the EnGenius EGS7252FP 48-port Gb PoE+ L2 managed switch and EGS7228FP 24-port Gb PoE+ L2 managed switch.

Complementing the company’s Electron series of business-class mix-and-match networking portfolio, the new switches are ideal for small and medium-sized businesses seeking to leverage cost-effective, high-performance solutions for adding or expanding wireless networking capabilities, Internet protocol (IP) camera surveillance deployments, or VoIP devices.

The EGS7252FP, which is available at a MSRP of $1,299, features 48 Gb PoE+ ports and supports IEEE802.3at/af with a total PoE budget of 740W to provide power and fast data speeds to PoE-enabled devices. It also supports IEEE802.1X and RADIUS authentication, access control list / port security, IEEE802.3ad link aggregation, and more.

Available at a MSRP of $799, the new EGS7228FP provides 24 Gb ports and supports IEEE802.3at/af with a total PoE budget of 370W. It also supports 802.1X port-based authentication, IEEE (News - Alert) 802.3ad link aggregation and more.

Capable of delivering business-class network performance and reliability required supporting the growing businesses and their bandwidth-intensive applications, both the new switches feature comprehensive Layer 2 switching capabilities and PoE support for connecting and delivering data at Gigabit speeds to computers, VoIP phones, access points, and IP cameras throughout the office.

In addition, both the switches do not require recurring subscription, licensing, and maintenance costs, delivering a lower total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to competing solutions.

Erez Zevulunov, director and president at M.I.T. Consulting, said in a statement, “These managed switches provide a viable network infrastructure option for businesses that demand the performance of an enterprise-class solution, but do not have the budget for solutions from the typical enterprise networking vendors.”

Covered by one-year limited warranties and are available in North America via authorized retailers, distributors and value-added resellers, the new EGS7252FP and EGS7228FP Gigabit PoE+ switches can: easily be added to an existing rack of L2 and L3 switches and managed via an intuitive Web interface or SNMP; support 802.1Q VLANs for improved convergence and bandwidth utilization; and QoS to optimize the performance of latency-sensitive applications.
