In an attempt to meet demand for its industry-leading portfolio of data and Internet services, tw telecom (News - Alert), has decided to expand its network in San Diego. The company has invested in the northern San Diego metro area and is looking to reach the fast growing business parks of Carlsbad.
tw telecom, which also provides secure, scalable private connections for transport data networking, Internet access, voice, VPN, VoIP and security, has already made its way into four new markets – Salt Lake City, Richmond, Va., Boston and Philadelphia this year. The company now connects directly to 21,300 commercial buildings, including approximately 500 third-party data centers.
"The explosion of growth in the San Diego economy, the growth of commercial office parks in the Carlsbad area, as well as increased customer demand for our network services is fueling this expansion," said Lindsey Burroughs, vice president and general manager, tw telecom, San Diego, in a recent press release. "We are excited for this investment in the northern San Diego metro area and its ability to help us to reach more customers with our industry leading customer service and Intelligent Network products. tw telecom is committed to the success of Carlsbad-based businesses and looks forward to helping them grow."
As part of its national multi-market expansion strategy, tw telecom is expanding its metro fiber footprint across the country. In May, the company expanded its capabilities for its California Bay Area markets. Post implementation, large areas from South of San Jose to San Francisco, throughout the East Bay into Oakland and Walnut Creek and Sacramento, will come under the company’s fiber-dense Northern California network coverage. The company will continue to leverage its existing backbone infrastructure at South Bay to deliver Business Ethernet services to more enterprises located in this area.
