A Swedish-based technology startup, Wonder Technology Solutions (WTS (News - Alert)), has unveiled a new smart tracking device and application, called Trax.

Modern families, especially with children, elderly and pets, are constantly under the notion of insecurity due to undesirable incidents in society.

So, many have embraced this wonderful technology, called as GPS (global positioning system), which enables users to track their near or dear ones having the GPS receiver, with real-time location updates indicating whether they are safe and sound.

According to ABI Research’s (News - Alert) new report, “Personal Location Devices and Applications Market,” GPS personal tracking devices and applications are forecast to grow with a CAGR of 40 percent, with both markets breaking $1 billion in 2017.

Even though many organizations have rolled-out smart GPS tracking devices, till date, very few have caught consumer’s attention as they either fail to perform well in indoor conditions or they are expensive.

Consequently, WTS rolled-out the Trax GPS smart device and application, which combines advanced GPS as well as sensor fusion technology - to provide indoor navigation capabilities and more precise, real-time outdoor tracking. This feature makes Trax ideal for children and pets, wherein user can locate them at anytime and from anywhere.

Available for a price of approximately $270 USD in 30 counties by December, 2013, Trax is covered by two years of data and free roaming in these 30 countries.

WTS has collaborated with Telenor (News - Alert) Connexion to bring the Trax GPS tracker to these 30 countries. Some of the countries that will be covered by Trax include U.K., France, Germany, Spain, Benelux and the Nordics. Trax will be launched in additional countries as well, in 2014.

According to WTS, the Trax is designed for smartphones, mobile devices, and computer. It is equipped with a durable and waterproof silicone case that withstands drops, water, mud, snow and other environmental factors.

Significantly, the Trax includes smart technology that sends push alerts when a child or pet leaves a designated area, the battery is low or the device is dropped or exceeds a pre-determined speed.

For versatility, the Trax GPS tracker can be located through a free application (app). The app features real-time tracking, safe zones, and augmented reality; and also allows for unlimited and time-scheduled safe zones.

All these features of Trax facilitates parents and pet owners to stay connected with loved ones at playgrounds, malls, schools, amusement parks, walking trails, and places alike.

Fredrik Danelius, co-founder and chief operating officer, WTS, said in a statement,"We developed Trax GPS tracker because parents and pet owners need an easier-to-use and smaller device to stay close to loved ones. The development of indoor navigation makes Trax particularly unique and useful."

The Trax app will be available in App Store and Google Play, in December, 2013, cites the company. Apps for Windows Phone (News - Alert) and tablets are under development.
