Employee mobility continues to be a top priority for businesses. And, vendors that develop and market business telephony solutions are listening. Recently,
Esna Technologies Inc., or “Esnatech,” announced a version of its Mobile UC Client software specifically for
RIM Blackberry devices which can be accessed from the Blackberry App World online store. This follows a version for
Apple (News - Alert) iPhone announced last April as a free download from the Apple Software store. The application delivers presence, messaging, mobility and computer telephony over the Blackberry or Apple device, enabling mobile staff to communicate as they do at their office desk. Users can see who has called their office phone in real-time and see who is online and available.
The Mobile UC software communicates with Esnatech's Telephony Office-LinX, or “TOL,” messaging platform and an enterprise PBX and e-mail platform via IP. The solution requires the TOL messaging system connected to any PBX, whether IP or TDM, including those from
Aastra (News - Alert),
Avaya,
Cisco,
Digium, or
Asterisk,
eOn,
Iwatsu,
Mitel,
Nortel,
Panasonic,
Teltronics,
Toshiba and others. Customers can tie in
Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS and
Google applications, including Gmail and Google Talk, for additional functionality such as real-time presence information. From the application, users can also access instant messaging which included Group IM, SMS text messaging, Find Me/Follow Me settings, location-based routing and PBX (News - Alert) dialing with a call back capability.
Mobile UC Client software for the RIM Blackberry is free from the Blackberry App World online store, or for the Apple iPhone from the Apple Software store, until Esnatech releases TOL version 8.0, which is scheduled for December 2009. After this time, it will available for a nominal fee. The software can be accessed directly from the user’s Blackberry or Apple device or from the website by simply searching for “esna uc”. This September, Esnatech will launch a version located at the Google (News - Alert) Android Market, another online store. Mobile UC client software is also available for J2ME-enabled and Windows Mobile devices. Visit
