Electronic devices draw power when in idle mode, standby mode or when switched off, leading to exposing connected devices, potential damage from a power surge and most importantly, wasting of energy.
In an effort to save this energy, Accell, a provider of audio video, computer and mobile device accessories, introduced a new power-saving product, the GreenGenius smart surge protector.
A surge protector, or surge suppressor, is a single or multiple outlet appliance designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes.
Accell officials say the new GreenGenius smart surge protectors have the capability to turn off the power from idle devices automatically. A mode switch is also included to turn off the automatic switching technology so the GreenGenius turns into a standard surge protector.
Currently available in both eight and ten-outlet models, the new GreenGenius smart surge protectors are priced at MSRP of $44.99 for each model. The eight-outlet surge protector features two USB charging ports and 2160 joules of surge protection, whereas the ten-outlet features 3240 joules of surge protection.
As an addition to the company’s power-saving product lines, the GreenGenius smart surge protectors are powered by Power Stop technology, which helps these devices automatically stop conducting power once the absorption has been reached.
Featuring a flexible six-foot grounded power cord, the GreenGenius smart surge protectors also feature X3 metal oxide varistor (MOV) fireproof technology, power stop surge capacity detection, ground and protected indicator light, sliding safety covers, Ethernet and phone line protection and more.
The advanced X3 MOV technology imbibed in to the new devices provides the safest surge protection by detecting surge conditions and reacts by directing excess energy away from equipment through the electrical grounding system.
Precisely, the X3 MOV technology protects connected equipment from fire hazard during an abnormal surge event and provides longer protection lifespan than regular MOV.
The ten-outlet models of GreenGenius feature two pairs of coaxial port protection.
