SPIRIT DSP and Rostelecom Team Up For Multipoint Video Conferencing

By Deepika Mala, TMCnet Contributor

Russia's national telecommunications operator Rostelecom has recently licensed SPIRIT DSP’s (News - Alert) VideoMost.com software to provide OTT multipoint videoconferencing services to its corporate customers under its own brand.

Powered by SPIRIT's TeamSpirit Conferencing Platform, VideoMost is an award-winning, massively multipoint, Web-based videoconferencing software. The product enables carriers, service/SaaS (News - Alert) providers and enterprises to offer self- branded videoconferencing services from the cloud or via a premise installation.

In a press release, a Rostelecom (News - Alert) representative stated, “Implementation of our new service was determined by increasing demand for cloud based videoconferencing." "One of the main advantages of this service is its ability to provide HD video quality while allowing our clients to save on purchasing and maintenance of expensive videoconferencing solutions, since the corporate videoconferencing system organization and technical support will be carried out using a service platform at Rostelecom's data center.”

Having a nationwide LTE (News - Alert) license, Rostelecom offers integrated telecom solutions including local and intra zone telephone services, international long distance and domestic long distance services, mobile voice, data, broadband Internet access, and pay TV services to millions of subscribers in Russia.

The white labeling of VideoMost web video conferencing software will additionally help the company generate new revenue and increase customer satisfaction with its own branded Web video conferencing offering.

SPIRIT's Head of Telco Relationships Alex Zakharov, said, "Through licensing the VideoMost software and building its own videoconferencing service that's integrated with its billing system, Rostelecom can now effectively and aggressively compete against OTT VVoIP providers."

Rostelecom's web videoconferencing service is priced at $20 per month for unlimited use.

In related news, SPIRIT DSP, the world's top voice and video over IP engines provider, has recently announced the next version of its multipoint videoconferencing software for telecom operators, hosted service providers and enterprises – VideoMost.com 2.0.
