Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 Delivers Top-Notch Sound Quality

By Jacqueline Lee, Contributing Writer

The Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2, a second-generation product from Bose, provides the excellent sound quality for which Bose is known. The noise-reducer microphone filters background noise from the user’s voice, making it easier for the receiver on the other end to hear clearly. Also, the headset introduces A2DP Bluetooth audio streaming of music, podcasts and more, which can be synced with a variety of audio-playing devices such as smartphones.

In addition to improvements, the second-generation headset contains some of the best features of its predecessor. Adaptive audio adjustment technology adjusts input automatically based on the noise level of the user’s surrounding environment. Bose’s StayHear earphone tips make the headset extremely comfortable, and an indicator light changes from green to amber to red depending on the level of battery charge.

At an MSRP of $149.99, the Bose headset is not cheap, although the price may be worthwhile for someone who uses a headset extensively. It also lacks voice alert and voice command features and does not run apps. In addition, its battery status does not show up on the smartphone screen. However, the sound quality is excellent, featuring rich and vibrant transmission of voices as opposed to the tinny sound achieved by some headsets. Also, transmissions of audio through the earpiece are comparable to those produced by mid-level earphones.

The original Bose Bluetooth Headset only fits in the right ear. However, after listening to consumer feedback, Bose has created a version for either ear with its second-generation model. The Series 2 measures 0.7 by 1.8 by 1.3 inches and weighs less than half an ounce. The volume controls and multi-function call button are on top of the headset, and the bottom of the headset features a sliding power button. In addition to the battery level light, an additional LED light indicates the Bluetooth connection status.

The Bose Series 2 comes with a carrying case, a USB cable and wall adapter and StayHear tips in multiple sizes. Currently, Amazon.com (News - Alert) features the headset for less than $110.
