Polycom and Motorola to Offer Enterprise HD Video Software Solution for Motorola XOOM

To enhance the face-to face video-collaboration, Polycom, Inc., the company in standards-based unified communications (UC), and Motorola (News - Alert) Mobility Holdings, Inc. have announced Polycom Real Presence Mobile for Motorola XOOM.

According to a press release, with Polycom's (News - Alert) HD video technology on a Motorola tablet, users can connect simultaneously to other standards-based video systems, including immersive video rooms, group/desktop systems, and laptops. The RealPresence Mobile software application, powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform, extends Polycom's HD video collaboration technology to deliver to tablets the same high-quality, secure, reliable video experience customers are accustomed to inside the office.

The RealPresence Mobile software application can be freely downloaded from Android (News - Alert) Market beginning and Motorola will become the first company to offer the RealPresence Mobile application pre-loaded on its tablet devices, starting in Q4 2011.

“Motorola Mobility is committed to our enterprise users, and we are excited to equip mobile workers with effective collaboration tools that improve decision making and increase productivity,” said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president and general manager, Enterprise at Motorola Mobility. “Integrating the Polycom RealPresence Mobile application into Motorola XOOM provides a best-in-class HD video experience for our customers that frees them from the office to participate in individual and group video conferences from anywhere with anyone.”

Both the companies have successfully seeded Motorola XOOM tablets loaded with the RealPresence Mobile solution to leading Fortune 500 companies across the U.S. for beta testing..

“Together, Polycom and Motorola are unleashing workers by extending the benefits of Polycom-quality video collaboration beyond the conference room and office with a true mobile enterprise video solution for tablets,” said Sudhakar Ramakrishna, executive vice president and general manager of UC solutions and chief development officer, Polycom.

In other news, Polycom, Inc. and Jive Software (News - Alert) recently announced a strategic relationship to integrate Polycom HD video into Jive's social business platform.The new solution will allow Jive customers to conduct live video chats, including group video calls, as well as record video meetings or messages for archiving, training, and ongoing collaboration.
