Security solutions provider, McAfee announced the availability of the McAfee (News - Alert) Hosted Exchange Enterprise Mobility Management (McAfee EMM) 9.5 software.
The McAfee EMM software includes integration with the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO) platform, providing customers with unified management of their endpoint, network and data security products, company officials said.
The end-to-end visibility and control provided by the McAfee ePO platform will help IT administrators strengthen their protection and drive down the cost and complexity of managing their risk and security.
“Consumerization of IT has changed the way organizations need to think about security,” said Todd Gebhart, McAfee executive vice president and general manager of consumer, mobile and small business.
The McAfee EMM software has several features. With the new software, enterprises can offer recommended applications through a secure enterprise app store, while maintaining complete visibility into the applications that reside on these employee-owned devices.
“In the last year alone we've seen such a range of user devices in our workplace, from smartphones to Apple (News - Alert) iPads,” said Sumit Sehgal, information security manager at Riverside Healthcare, in a statement.
“McAfee EMM software has really helped us to be able to say ‘yes' to these devices and manage them as an extension of our security infrastructure,” Sehgal added. “We can now secure and manage mobile devices as we do any other endpoint.”
The new McAfee EMM software features API set for mobile device management, enabling IT administrators to create applications-based parameters such as the user and their roles and responsibilities, and sub-lists, which can be sent to individuals or groups.
McAfee offers PKI capabilities through the Microsoft (News - Alert) Certificate Authority, offering authentication for devices accessing the corporate network. Smartphones and tablets can connect to the network VPN using client certificates.
Besides supporting the Android (News - Alert) 2.2 and Motorola Droid Pro, McAfee EMM software extends support for Android 2.3 as well as Android-based tablets fast. Lotus Domino users with Lotus Traveller 8.5.2 also can leverage McAfee EMM software.
Recently, McAfee announced that it will reimburse users whose computers had to be serviced due to a faulty update that caused people's computers to act differently.
