MigrationWiz, a provider of cloud-based migration solutions, announced that it introduced Novell GroupWise to Microsoft (News
- Alert) Exchange migrations, including variants such as on-premise Exchange, hosted Exchange, and Exchange Online (BPOS).
Companies that want to change from GroupWise to Exchange can do so without the need to deploy any hardware or software with MigrationWiz’ GroupWise to Exchange migration solution. The solution leverages the same patent-pending technology that was developed to migrate large numbers of mailboxes for Fortune 500 customers.
The changing process of GroupWise to Exchange is termed as a high-fidelity migration as companies won’t just transfer GroupWise e-mails, but also migrate all their appointments, all their contacts and all their tasks. The new solution from MigrationWiz has all the necessary features to fully handle special cases such as complex recurring appointments or contacts with rarely used fields.
MigrationWiz claimed that its secure, quick, cost-effective, highly scalable, self-service migration solution requires no hardware or software to install and supports a single mailbox to hundreds of thousands of simultaneous migrations. Users can see through this process and configure and submit migrations in minutes with no prior experience.
The solution is supposedly very simple and easy to use. All users have to do is signup to use the service and then submit migration request using the customer Web access portal. The request then automatically gets routed to a MigrationWiz secure migration server which migrates all mailbox contents in a secure pass through manner to the hosted exchange. Users will be notified when the process is complete.
The newly unveiled feature was built using MigrationWiz's cloud migration platform, benefitting from all enterprise features available to other migration types such as Exchange to Exchange or Google (News

"Previously, we had the ability to migrate from Google Apps, Exchange, IMAP and POP systems. By adding support for GroupWise, we've extended our reach. This translates into new opportunities for hosted email service providers looking to onboard GroupWise customers, and for GroupWise-based corporations looking to migrate to Exchange, whether on-premise or in the cloud,” said Geeman Yip, the company's CEO, in a statement.
