A family of softswitches from a developer of tandem softswitches and session border controllers that allow carriers and service providers to manage VoIP calls circulating across their networks, have now been certified XConnect-Ready.
MERA Systems (News - Alert) so called “MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch” or MVTS II and “MERA VoIP Transit Softswitch Professional” or MVTS Pro have been certified by London-based XConnect (News - Alert), a global provider of network peering.
According to Konstantin Nikashov, CEO of MERA Systems, the MVTS product line is designed with highly flexible traffic handling and with peering. This design is targeted to their customers who know that intelligent call routing among a wide range of IP carrier partners is very important for profitability.
Eli Katz (News - Alert), XConnect CEO and founder also said that the MERA switching products are deployed to more than 800 carrier customers in 76 countries – meaning interoperability for a significant percentage of the world’s service providers.
“Certification of such a widely used softswitch product line should green-light participation for many carriers by removing the considerable operational expense and resources required in performing multiple interoperability tasks,” Katz said.
The XConnect Ready Partners Program provides an ecosystem of pretested vendors and solutions to facilitate peering. The certification through this program means that service providers who are deploying the MVTS softswitching family can query XConnect’s ENUM registry for session-routing information. The certification also means that the switches’ routing and peering functions can work securely and seamlessly with XConnect.
