Level 3 Communications, a provider of fiber-based communications services, has announced that it is expanding its operations in the Philadelphia area.
Level 3 has an extensive network in the Philadelphia area that includes the cities of Allentown and Reading – as well as Wilmington, Del., and Camden, N.J. – which is said to encompass more than 25,000 businesses.
Level 3 is adding capacity to this network. The company plans said it plans to continue increasing the number of businesses that are directly connected to this network, as this will enable tremendous bandwidth scalability and reach of services for these businesses.
The company said that this latest initiative is designed to provide mid-market enterprises with locally focused customer service and greater access to Level 3’s voice, Internet and data services.
Noting that there is a fundamental shift in the communications needs of enterprises, Michael Zody, general manager for Philadelphia at Level 3, added that it’s no longer as simple as providing dial tone and Internet access, but rather delivering a network solution that accommodates the changing needs of businesses.
“Level 3’s increased presence in the Philadelphia area allows our customers to get face-to-face local customer support,” said Zody.
Additionally, Level 3’s local sales and customer support team will provide the consultative expertise, helping business customers navigate the changing communications landscape.
Moreover, the company is also realigning its workforce in the Philadelphia area as part of the increased local focus. The company said that it’s creating an “outstanding” service experience by leveraging local marketplace knowledge and creating greater familiarity with customers.
Earlier this month, Cypress Communications (News - Alert), a provider of managed voice, data and Internet solutions, selected Level 3 for variety of high-bandwidth services.
