Toktumi, Inc., the creator of Line2 (News - Alert) calling app, said it has tripled the number of paid subscribers in the last three months. Toktumi provides hosted PBX phone services for small businesses and virtual offices and mobile VoIP solutions for business users and consumers. The company says it carried over 10 million minutes of VoIP traffic for Line2 customers over those three months.
The Line2 calling app was named one of Entrepreneur magazine’s 100 Brilliant (News - Alert) Ideas for 2010 recently. Since the release of Line2 2.4.1 with multitasking, downloads have dramatically increased. More than 35,000 users are currently taking advantage of Line2’s free trials.
Line2 gets rid of the need to bring two phones. It adds a second line to your iPhone (News - Alert), allowing you to keep your business and personal number separate without carrying two phones. Every number has its own caller ID, voicemail and contacts. The Line2 App works on the iPod Touch and iPad. It turns both devices into fully-functional mobile phones.
The Line2 app also enables users to make calls over VoIP when there is Wi-Fi. This also lets customers place and receive calls when they don’t have good cell reception.
A survey was conducted by Toktumi of their Line2 iPhone users. Toktumi asked the users if they would be interested in making use of Line2 as their primary dialer instead of the built-in iPhone cell dialer. Some 82 percent of customers said that they would be interested in switching to Line2 as their primary mode of calling.
Peter Sission, the founder and chief executive officer of Toktumi, stated that he is quite pleased that the popularity of Line2 is growing so quickly. One becomes addicted to being able to make clear, reliable calls all the time once you’re a Line2 user, the company said.
Sission noted that this is something that AT&T (News - Alert) cellular customers have never experience before and said Line2 upgrades the whole cell phone experience. Toktumi will be adding more features before the end of summer.
