JAJAH (News - Alert), launched in 2006, is one of the world's most innovative communications company. It has made a new breakthrough in social network calling with its partnership with Facebook (News - Alert).
JAJAH made its first social networking calling breakthrough after the release of JAJAH@call, which allowed Twitter users to make free, secure calls to their followers with just a tweet.
After targeting twitter users, JAJAH released a calling solution for Facebook. This solution allows Facebook users to call online friends from any location in the world. Such calls are free from JAJAH and the only criterion that needs to be satisfied is that the receiver must be a Facebook friend.
Unlike other calling solutions that require the caller and the called to download software, there is no need for the recipient to download anything. More importantly, the users' phone number remains private.
In a press release, Trevor Healy, JAJAH Chairman, said, "JAJAH is the first service to work within Facebook. Simply click and call, no further downloads, no complexity and no charge. Anyone can now call Facebook's 500 million users across the world for just the cost of a local call straight from their mobile phone."
He further added the Facebook calling solution was in response to users' claims that they had migrated from transitional services such as instant messaging to Facebook. JAJAH filled a crucial missing element in Facebook with its voice solution.
Once the JAJAH app is downloaded from the Android (News - Alert) iPhone store, the user needs to connect to Facebook, select a Friend from the “online friends” list and click. Recipients receive an alert message within Facebook chat informing them of the call. Once the call is accepted, it directly connects in the browser.
The JAJAH App, which has been developed along with Telefonica (News - Alert) I&D, allows users to call any phone at very low rates. Although the Internet is used to set up the call, once the call is through, it is treated as a regular call.
Callers in the U.S. and Canada can download the beta app from the Android market. The iPhone (News - Alert) version is expected shortly.
JAJAH launched in March 2006 with a friendly, easy to use "Web-activated calling" solution for any consumer with internet access and has over 10 million users in over 200 countries.
In a related news release, JAJAH announced the launch of JAJAH Honest Calling Cards as a white label solution for mobile operators, internet companies and other brands to provide their customers with a long distance calling solution that works from any phone.
