Some of the unusual items that have been left behind by guests at the Travelodge hotel chain include a life-size Dalek, a 4ft tall vegetable and gold dentures worth $10,000. One finds it difficult to comprehend how a guest can accidentally forget these items during checkout. It is, however, understandable for guests to accidentally forget smaller day-to-day items like mobile phones, laptops and jewelry while checking out.
According to a spokesman from the hotel chain, left-behind portable computer and communication devices and accessories were being increasingly left behind in 2010. Some of the common items left behind at the hotel included mobile phones and phone accessories; games consoles and laptops; teddy bears and books; and clothing/toiletries. Other items left behind included electronic devices like sat-navs, e-readers and digital cameras. Many guests also left behind jewelry, artificial limbs and false teeth and hen/stag night accessories.
Protect your bubble is an iPhone (News - Alert) insurance provider, In response to the story, Stephen Ebbett from Protect your bubble said that it has become very common to leave behind something which is important in the day-to-day life.
In a press release, Ebbett said, "While it is unlikely you would accidentally forget to take your 4ft yam with you when you checked out of a hotel, certainly a small device such as an iPhone could easily get missed, especially if you are in a rush. And this goes to prove just how easy it can be to accidentally lose your gadget."
According to Ebbett, iPhones can be lost in spite of being vigilant. The iPhone users can however save a lot of money in the long run by having adequate mobile phone insurance with option for lost cover. Such adequate insurance cover is provided by Protect your bubble.
Mr. Ebbett added that it would be quite expensive to replace a lost phone. While a lost 8GB iPhone 3GS costs typically starting at around $630, a 32GB iPhone 4 will cost $900.
In comparison, the monthly cost of iPhone insurance from Protect your bubble is only $10. The company offers cover for mobile phones against theft, accidental damage, break down outside of the manufacturer's warranty period, and accidental loss, added Ebbett.Calvin Azuri is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
