By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
For business professionals seeking to enhance their working knowledge of the Switchvox (News - Alert) system, TMC is offering live training courses at ITEXPO West, the premier telecommunications conference of 2009. The course, hosted by Digium (News - Alert), provides a one-day introduction to the Switchvox system and is scheduled for Sept. 1, the first day of the three-day ITEXPO, which will be held in Los Angeles.
Students attending this course will glean a working knowledge of the Switchvox system, its initial setup and configuration and how it works within the corporate IT/telephony infrastructure. The course will also describe the telephony connections supported by Switchvox and identify the hardware needed to drive this connectivity.
The Switchvox course will also teach attendees how to identify the basic characteristics of analog and digital PSTN connections. In this segment of the course, attendees will gain a better understanding of the differences between VoIP and PSTN and how they fit into their overall corporate environment.
Course participants will also learn how to configure Switchvox to gain basic PBX (News - Alert) functionality such as call routing, voicemail and directory services. Along with the ability to connect Switchvox to a Voice-over-IP service provider and use the Switchboard application, attendees will also learn about the benefits of a rich user interface that can be used to interact with the entire telephone system.
A question and answer session will also occur to ensure all attendees gain significant value from this session. In addition, each participant will receive a student kit which includes:
- Digium TDM411B Analog card (1 FXO port + 1 FXS port)
- Polycom (News - Alert) SoundPoint IP 330 SIP Phone
