Motorola (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of integrated communications and embedded electronic solutions, this week announced its successful acquisition of Modulus Video, Inc., a supplier of MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) compression

systems.
The company recently completed the acquisition of Modulus Video (News - Alert), a privately held corporation, yet remained tightlipped about the terms of the transaction. This acquisition provides Motorola direct access to Modulus Video’s high-tech MPEG-4 AVC encoders.
Modulus Video creates MPEG-4 AVC compression systems used around the world. These MPEG-4 AVC encoders are a key component in many of the highly advanced IPTV

deployments, facilitating delivery of high value video content in cable, broadcast, IPTV (News - Alert), and satellite networks.
Motorola and Modulus Video have been working together earlier for two years, during which time Motorola’s global clients benefited immensely from the premium class encoding solutions offered by Modulus.
Motorola said it intends to build a highly integrated, end-to-end video delivery system that for multiple network architectures. Toward that end, it also acquired Broadbus, Kreatel, Tut Systems, and Netopia (News - Alert).
The company additionally plans to integrate Modulus Video’s technology within its Home and Networks Mobility business.
